If there is Awareness and Will, Pollution can be Controlled

Overview of main health effects on humans from...

Image via Wikipedia

We, the people of the world, should help reduce it. What good is prosperity when pollution could damage people, animals, water and surroundings?

The Oil spills, solid wastes and dangerous chemicals from homes, factories or farms, emptied into rivers, lakes and bays damage our health and surroundings. They devastate aquatic life. The air we breathe, poisoned by automobile and factory emissions, causes asthma and allergies. Rotting wastes in our surroundings are breeding grounds for flies and mosquitoes, which are carriers of malaria, dengue fever and other killer diseases.

Since pollution is always connected with prosperity, we cannot stop it entirely. But we can reduce it. An environmental sanitary program, involving government agencies and nongovernmental organizations, should chalk out the sanitary measures that need to be taken.

No One Would Like to be Adults

"Oh old bastard, I'll give you some good ...

Image via Wikipedia

What if the world ruled by children? Could it be one of the best places in the universe because children are never greedy and never tries to cheat?

The world would not become a den of several criminal crimes such as war, graft and corruption, terrorism, rebellion, cheating, drug addiction, rape, smuggling, kidnapping, sex slavery and prostitution, child abuse, spousal abuse, and other heinous crimes. But we should know also that kids can be much crueler than adults. The world would be like a big trash pile because children don’t put anything away. The world would become messier and full of lost things.

Click the link to read more: No One Would Like to be Adults

And the rate of development would be slower because children want something just for fun and are apt to ignore something related to world development.

If they were bank directors they would spend all the money on games, candies or parties. Adults would have to work not to receive money, but toys, candies and chocolate. Most school classes would disappear. The world would be rough and wild.

Is Genital Mutilation a Human Right Violation?

Illustrated account of the circumcision ceremo...

Image via Wikipedia

Many circumcised males live with constant irritation to their exposed glands, these results from friction against their clothing during work or exercises. Female circumcision is a horrible tradition practised in some cultures. It involves the removal of the clitoris and other sensitive parts that are vital to female sexual response; the female is castrated, not circumcised. The girl's genitalia are stitched together in such a way that sex will be painful and childbirth horrific.

Click the link to read more: Is genital Mutilation a Human Right Violation?

In Genesis 17, God said to Abraham, "Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you. For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring. Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant. Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant."

How to Deal with Spammers and Scammers Professionally?

Everyday my mail boxes at hotmail, yahoo and gmail are always full of unsolicited spams from people I don’t know. Although they are spams or scams I don’t delete them. Instead, I saved them in a folder with marked spams.

We have to understand and even to accept it that spammers, scammers and other hoaxers are using internet and World Wide Web to look for victims. They are everywhere. Some of them are using forum groups and other egroups, twitter and other social networks to spot for their next victims. And we should not be surprised also that anything we sent off to internet either they’re personally or privately posted, still they can be accessed by other net users through the power of search engine. I, myself had proven it.

How to Deal with Spammers and Scammers Professionally?

How to stop them?  By deleting spams at your spams section could not stop them. Based from my experience and the method I used to stop them from sending unsolicited mails to my mail box, I faced them politely, friendly and professionally by replying them. When I read their messages, I could not identify its senders’ addresses but when I replied them, it was yahoo who helped me identified the senders’ emails addresses.

My reply reads “I am happy to receive your communication Mr. or Mrs. so and so, and I am interested and very willing to engage business with you. For the meantime visit this link (the link going to my blog article) it caters all the information you needed.” And before ending my email letter, I would write, “Also I would request you to deposit at least 100$ to my PayPal account. Better if you can send the money today to my PayPal account so that we can start our business early.” That method seemed very effective for me. It helped stopped them sending spams.

And the reason why I don’t delete spams – I considered them as mine of great ideas to write!

The Media Law is Not Fair

People for the Media Law

It said, “The media law describes a journalist as a person who collects, disseminates and provide information to the media, based on a contract with the media, or who is a member of a journalists’ union.”

If you are a blogger, think about it. The description of the media law mentioned above gives you and idea on how to enjoy rights and protections that a journalist entitled to. The only difference is that you are a blogger and he is a journalist.

Now think about it again, if a journalist posses the ability to collect, disseminates and provide information to the media – you blogger can do it also. If the journalist is a member of a journalists’ union – you blogger can apply to become a member of a journalists’ union. The people behind a Journalists’ union are not purely journalists. Some of them are bloggers like you and I.

How to provide information to the media based on a contract?

The mechanic is as easy as 123 steps based from my experience. Don’t forget that you are a blogger but you can write as nice the way a journalist does. Sometimes a blogger could write even better than a journalist. If a journalist gathers, evaluate, distribute fact of current interest, and writes stories for print and electronic distribution often with the guidance of editors or producers – you bloggers can also enjoy them.

How to Determine BMI Without Seeing a Doctor?

Simplified graph of body mass index

Image via Wikipedia

If you want to know your weight and determine it if it is healthy weight, overweight, obese and morbidly obese you would need the following: Kilograms or Weigh Scales and a Meter. These are the things needed to determine your Body Mass Index (BMI) or Quetelet index.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a heuristic measure of body weight based on a person’s weight and height. Though it does not actually measure the percentage of body fat, it is used to estimate a healthy body weight based on a person’s height, assuming an average body composition. Due to its ease of measurement and calculation, it is the most widely used diagnostic tool to identify weight problems within a population, usually whether individuals are underweight, overweight or obese.

The mechanics: Take your weight in kilograms then divide it by your height in meters and when you get the result divide your height in meters again. Sample: your weight is 150kls, your height is 2.5 meters = 150/2.5=60/2.5=24. Your total weight is 24.

The Body Mass Index for a Healthy Weight is from 20 to 24; for the Body Mass Index for an Overweight is from 25 to 29; for the Body Mass Index for an Obese is from 30 to 39; while for the Body Mass Index for the Morbidly Obese is 40 plus.

How to Master Your Lessons Without Memorizing Them?

I am not suggesting you to do the same what I have done. But from my experience with this method, I learned and mastered the lessons so quickly without memorizing them. And I thought this might helps the students, parents, teachers, professionals, businessmen/women and other human beings to learn this formula, I discovered.

21-08-10_1119 On the day, I became a DXN distributor – I learned that in order to enjoy success with the business I started, I must have to study the different lessons that are being taught to the new DXN partners. At least I have to attend 5 times for BOM (Business Opportunity Meeting), 5 times for DOP (Distributors Orientation Program), 5 times for Ganotherapy and to familiarize some of the testimonials from other DXN networkers around the world who have succeeded with their DXN business.

During my training and seminars, I discovered a formula that helped me learn quickly with my DXN lessons without memorizing them. This formula will also work for students, teachers and other professionals. This is about digesting the lessons by using the 5ws formula and how.

How this method works? Suppose your lesson today is about BOM (Business Opportunity Meeting). While listening to your mentor, start digesting the lesson by using the 5ws and how formula. The 5ws stand for the following: Who, What, Why, When and Where. All the possible answers that would answer Who - put them under Who. Do it also with What, Why, When, Where and How.

    The Eerie Gift

The church tower is what remains of the Cagsau...Image via Wikipedia
In late 1900s, there was another interesting story happened in Mayon Volcano, Albay, Philippines. It’s all about an alien tree bearing-fruits, which was believed that whoever eaten its fruit would enjoy the infinite power for the rest of his life.

The story began when Goth, who was a half Filipino, a half German visited Albay and spent his vacation at Mayon. It was Christmas day, he turned 18. He’s alone at the foot of Mayon.

Mayon volcano was approximately 7,926 feet high and still a very active volcano. At 8am Goth started climbing up Mayon. He’s optimistic that he could reach the top of the volcano before the sun sits down.

Walking across the slippery steep rock face of Mayon was a perilous quest, but Goth didn’t think to go back. He courageously had kept moving till he ascended up at about 500 meters above from the bottom before he stopped under tree bearing-fruits.

My Wikinut Page Views Break My Wordpress Records

The day I registered at wikinut that was on July 28, 2010, there were only 4 views my wikinut page has received. Now my daily average views range from 130 to 135 as of October 16, 2010. For the period of 81 days I am with my wikinutting my total views has already reached to 10,873 views. What have I done to attract visitors, viewers and net surfers to my wikinut page? My article will answer it. If you think that my suggestions will help boost traffics to your blogsites or websites you can apply them too. Nothing here is personal. This is all about the power of sharing!

    My Busiest Day At Wikinut

Aug_-16,-2010-759-views-my-wikinut-page-received I was stunned looking at the 759 views that my wikinut page statistic has recorded on that day, compared on the day I registered at wikinut that was on July 28, 2010 that received only a number of 4 views. Those recorded views occurred on August 16, 2010 that I could be proud of because that record breaks my busiest day at wordpress. The number of views that my blog at wordpress "Ang Manlilikha" has reached 427 views only that occurred on January 21, 2010.

Article Title, its Contents & Tags help Boost Traffic

On January 21, 2010 my blog at wordpress received the highest views and was highlighted for about 4 days as the fastest growing wordpress blog. Out of 427 views received on that day, the most viewed article was "DonDon on Deathrow". It generated 344 views alone and 78 comments so far while my other articles received the least views.

Your Blogsites are Sources for Traffics

By sharing your wikinut page at your blogs in wordpress and blogger or in other blog hosting sites will help boost traffic to your wikinut page. There are two options to choose:

    (1) Share the page of your article by copying the title, summary or write a new summary of your published article, the tags together with the URL link of the said article. You can also include the link of your personal URL invitation. Who ever clicks the link of your article on that blogsite, the link will open going to your wikinut page article and who ever clicks the link of your URL personal invitation it will open directly to wikinut homepage.

Sample-Of-My-Wordpress-Blog (2) Share your Author's RSS Feed link which is found at your wikinut profile page. Your Author's RSS Feed link caters of all your articles published at wikinut. If you are using wordpress for your blog, open your control panel there. Click appearance when it opens you will see then the widgets - click the widgets and when it opens you will see all of the widgets that support your wordpress blog. From there look for RSS - it is programmed for entries from any RSS or Atom feed. Then drag the RSS to either right side bar or left side of your blog. Then insert now your wikinut Author's RSS Feed link under Enter the RSS feed URL here: Author RSS feed. Under it you can choose how many number of articles to display - they are from 1 to 20. I chose 5 only that included my article date and my author's name - save, close and open the wordpress blog to see the result.

If you are using blogger it is the same link and procedures you will do. (1) Open your blogger account - go to your dashboard control panel - open the "new post section" paste the summary of the article, link of the article including tags and publish it. (2) For your Auhtor's RSS Feed link - open again your blogger dashboard control panel, click design that is for edit layout and look for Add a Gadget click it and it will open - from there you will see all the gadgets that support your blogger blog. Then look for Feed, this Feed is designed to add content from an RSS or Atom feed to your blog. Then click the (+) sign and it will open to configure feed. Give title, choose the number of articles to display from 1 to 5. Check the boxes under it for date, author and instruction to open it in a new window. Then save it. It will automatically appear at your layout page. You can rearrange the gadgets there and save. Open now the blog to see how they appeared.

    Igoogle also attracts Traffics

My-Igoogle-Sample By sharing your Author's RSS feed link at igoogle will also help attract traffics to your wikinut page. There are ten of thousands igoogle users. Some of them are sharing their stuff publicly or privately. If you chose as privately shared stuff, the people who can view them are only those people connected to you at your gmail account or your gmail contacts but if you chose as publicly shared expect it that everyone can ably view your shared stuff and if someone has clicked the links of your shared wikinut contents they will open directly to your wikinut profile page. I chose publicly shared.

I also shared my Author's RSS Feed link to my youtube account channel. It also help bring traffics to my wikinut page. The mechanic is just simple. Open your youtube account.- then edit your profile page - paste the link of your Wikinut Author's RSS Feed link at the section website or blogsite. If someone has visited your youtube account channel and clicked the link of your website it will open directly to your wikinut profile page.

Twitter & Facebook will Flush Traffics to Your Wikinut Page

My-Twitter-with-my-Wikinut-RSS-Feed-link The time I shared my wikinut Author's RSS Feed link to my Twitter and Facebook acounts a lot of viewers have visited my wikinut page but here it will only work if your shared wikinut Author's RSS Feed link is accepted and approved by Twitter. If your link is approved, it is now the job of Twitter to tweet to the public twitter users what ever update you made at your wikinut page and if your Twitter account is also connected to your Facebook account, it is also the job of Twitter to tweet the new posted item from your wikinut page to your facebook profile page. No more tweeting from you just leave the job to Twitter. If you already opened an account at Twitter - open your profile section. Before the Bio, you will see the web section and under it you will read " Have a homepage or a blog? Put the address here" - paste your wikinut Author's RSS Feed link in that section and save.

    The Power of Sharing

By sharing your articles links to your friends who are your (yahoo, hotmail, gmail and aol contacts) help boost traffics to your wikinut page. By submitting your wikinut page to yahoo, bing, google and other search engines will bring traffic to your wikinut page. By sharing your wikinut profile page link to forum groups, egroups and other social networks that you are connected with will flood traffics too to your wikinut page. Google Online Translation Service Needs Improvements

300px-Google_Translate I understand that Google is working hard on its online translation service for other languages to be translated to English language and English to other languages though we cannot expect a perfect translation from Google for a word, for a sentence or for the whole paragraph as Google Translate has its limitations.

Google Translate was introduced in 2007. It is a free service provided by Google Inc. It uses a SYSTRAN based translator which is also used by other translation services such as Babel Fish, AOL, and Yahoo. While Google Translate helps the reader to understand the general content of a foreign language text, it does not always deliver accurate translations since its service limits the number of words, paragraphs or range of technical terms that will be translated.

In addition, it does not apply grammatical rules, since its algorithms are based on statistical analysis rather than traditional rule-based analysis. Google translate is based on an approach called statistical machine translation and more specifically on research. Check Google Translate for the langauge you want to translate. This supports 58 languages so far and still counting.

The below is an example of how Google had beautifully translated my Filipino Tag-alog poem to English language.

    Mahal Naming Pangulo—Meron Nabang Napatunayan?
Google: Dear President-Do Nabang Proven? Read GT Service.

    Gising ang aking kaluluwa
    Gising ang aking pandama
'Ngalan mo'y isinulat ng bayan sa balota…

    Google: Awake my soul
    My senses awake
'Name the city ever written on the ballot ...

    Ngayon ang budhi ko'y nananamlay
    Nakikiusap na huwag mamamatay
Ang pag-asa na sa dugo ko'y nananalaytay...

    Google: Now my conscience dejected
    Pleading not to die
The hope is that my blood flows ...

I am happy that there is Google Translate who can help the readers to understand the general content of a foreign language text but after reading the way GT translated on my works - I felt ashamed first to myself and to people who happened visited and read my blog written in Filipino language - who used GT to translate my works. However, that embarrassment did not change my willingness to continue my blogging hobby and I promised to myself to learn English and work to improve them!

    The Tree with Thousands Uses

Filipino Buko Pandan I was looking for an idea to write and my attention was attracted to a certain plant existing for along time with the history of man from generation to generation. This is what I found and I wanted to share the good news to other people about this plant.

My subject for this research article has taught me a lot of things about its existing and how people could benefit from consuming and using it. Now I can shout to the whole world that to own this tree is a legacy. The only tree existing in the world with thousands uses - from the tips of its leaves down to the tips of its roots!

Scientific studies have shown that this plant has anti-microbial and anti-viral properties and is now even being used in treating AIDS patients. Studies conducted in the Philippines showed that it does indeed reduce the viral load in AIDS patients.

That claim was supported by Jon J. Kabara, PH.D and Professor Emeritus, Michigan State University said, "Never before in the history of man is it so important to emphasize the value of lauric oils. The medium-chain fats in it are similar to fats in mother's milk and have similar nutriceutical effects."

Buko Salad However, the origin of this plant is not yet fully determined as it is still subject for debate for the following reasons:
    (1) Most authorities claim it is native to  South Asia while others claim its origin is in northwestern South America.
    (2) Fossil records from New Zealand indicate that those plants grew there as long as 15 million years ago.
    (3) Even older fossils have been uncovered in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Thennai in Kerala on the banks of River Palar, Then-pennai, Thamirabharani, Cauvery and Mountain sides at Kerala borders, Konaseema-Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra (India)
    (4) The oldest known so far in Khulna, Bangladesh.
    (5) Mention is made in the 2nd–1st centuries BC in the Mahawamsa of Sri Lanka. The later Culawamsa states that King Aggabodhi I (575–608) planted them on his garden of 3 yojanas length, possibly believed as the earliest recorded plantation.

    December's Treasure

Christians believed that December 25 was the birth of Jesus, born of the Virgin Mary, the great High Priest, the founder of the Christian church and central figure of the human race. But December 25 also marked the births and deaths of some well-known and historical personalities.

December 25 was the birth of Sir Isaac Newton in 1642. He was a genius that explained gravity. Isaac Newton's discoveries were so numerous and varied that many consider him to be the father of modern science - a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge. Newton developed an intense interest in mathematics and the laws of nature which ultimately led to his two most famous works: Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica and Opticks.

December 25 also marked the death of some well-known and historical personalities such as, Pope Adrian 1 died on December 25, 795. He was a Roman, successor of Stephen IV. At Adrian 's urging, Charlemagne crossed the Alps and defeated the Lombard king, Desiderius, who had annexed papal territory. That defeat marked the end of the Lombard kingdom. Charlemagne, during the siege of Pavia , went to Rome , there confirmed the donation of Pepin to the Papal States , and joined additional provinces to it. Adrian in turn confirmed Charlemagne's title of patrician of the Romans, thereby acknowledging Charlemagne's protectorate over all Italy . Adrian supported Empress Irene in her struggle against iconoclasm, and he sent legates to the Second Council of Nicaea.

Karel Capek, a Czech, author and inventor of the word robot had died on December 25, 1938. He was a playwright, novelist, and essayist. He was best known as the author of two brilliant satirical plays—R. U. R. (Rossum's Universal Robots,), which introduced the word robot into the English language, and The Insect Play, written with his brother Josef. He also wrote travel sketches, romances, essays, and short stories. ÄŒapek's three philosophical novels, Hordubal, Meteor and An Ordinary Life are profound and even mystical in tone. Distinct from his other works, they constitute ÄŒapek's masterpiece.

December 25 is the 359th day of the year. It is also the 360th day in leap years in Gregorian calendar. And it is the 300th day counting from March 1, every year.

In the Roman year, December is the 10th calendar month. Now, it is the 12th month of the year and it is one of seven Gregorian months with the length of 31 days. Astrologically the month begins in Sagittarius and ends in the sign of Capricorn. The December’s flower is the narcissus or holly and its birthstone is turquoise, lapis lazuli, zircon, topaz (blue), or tanzanite.

Old Japan Calendar, December is called Shiwasu. In Finnish it is called Joulukuu (month of Christmas) since about 18 century. Earlier it was called Talvikuu (month of winter). In Irish it is called Mi Na Nollag (the month of Christmas).

The Christmas tree, Christmas ham, Yule log, Holly, mistletoe and the giving of presents are the most familiar traditional practices and symbols of Christmas practiced by most Christians in Western countries and in Asia.

The Philippines is well known for the longest celebration of Christmas season in the world. During this period the children are visiting their godparents, the elderly, close relatives and sing beautiful Christmas songs in exchange of gifts and some amount of money. The “Simbang Gabi” starts on 16 December ‘til the 24th midnight though Christmas celebration is extended ‘til the day of the Three Kings. But the season starts as far back as September.

Because December is one of the most costly months of the year, those who can afford enjoy the extravagant shopping for the season. Unlike those who are less fortunate, they would have to think twice to buy even the cheaper one!

    Confession from a Mormon Preacher

Josh Groban - My Confession - Instrumental   Karaoke

At sixteen, Gerald (his real name Geraldo Tadios) was the picture of a healthy young energetic teen with his beautiful smiles, shouts and laughter. He loved seeing movies, courting ladies, splashing in the white beaches with friends though when he reached seventeen in 1994, a difficult task has changed his whole life.

"It all started when I met those Mormon missionaries, who at that time preaching the Gospel in our town. They persuaded me to join with their mission. On February 06, 1994, I officially joined the Mormon. I was baptized at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, despite my family had opposed my decision," Gerald said.

Gerald was the eldest son of a brood of seven. His parents were Roman Catholic. He was energetic, smart and friendly type of a person. He only finished his third year at high school. He was a loving son. He lived with his family in Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.

    The beginning of Mormon Religion

The Mormon religion started 400 years A.D. when a Mormon who lived in the ancient America had compiled the writings of other prophets written on metal plates. When Prophet Mormon was dying, he passed on those plates to his son Moroni, who eventually became the messenger of God. Moroni kept those metal plates at the hill of Cumurah and later he passed away of old age.

On September 22, 1823 Prophet Moroni, was believed had resurrected and visited a young boy named Joseph Smith and told Joseph about the revelation of God, written on metal plates in an old Egyptian's language. He guided Joseph to the place where he kept the Holy Writ and instructed Joseph to translate those writings to English language.

Joseph Smith took those plates but was confused. He had no idea what to do with them. He could not read and understand those writings but the Holy Spirit inspired him. With the help of Oliver Cowdery, his close friend, who was a teacher; Joseph started translating the Holy Scripture.

After many years in translating the Holy Writ that took place from 1827-1830, the whole writing of the Holy Scripture was prosperously done. Joseph Smith testified that the Mormons have important role in preserving those old writings. This had become the official Book of the Mormons, which was officially believed that it was another covenant of Jesus Christ.

And this book became the identity of each member of the Mormon Church, a sacred book, believed by Mormons to be an abridgment by a prophet (Mormon) of a record of certain ancient people in America, written on metal plates. This religion has boosted in America and exists on these days. And it is estimated that there are about more than 20 million members around the world with more than 65,000 evangelists. And in the Philippines there are about more than 400,000 members recorded in 1999 from the year it started in 1951.

"With the newfound church, I devotedly spent most of my time with our prayer services but the fact was, it made me sick for a while. No more good times with my young friends added that my family had opposed my decision though it did not alter my willingness. I willingly served my newfound church and religion," Gerald said.

    The Mormon Creed

All Mormon believers as stated in the Book of Mormons must believe in God, as the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost; that man will be punished for his sin and not for Adam's transgression; that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind will be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel (Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Repentance, Baptism and laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost); that a follower of this church must believe in prophecy, revelation, healing, interpretation of things and so forth; that the Bible is to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly and the Book of Mormons is also the word of God; that God has revealed all that he does now revealed and He will reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God, that the gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the 12 tribes and the new Jerusalem will be built with glory; that the privilege of worshipping to our Almighty God is according to dictates of our conscience and claimed others to do the same privilege of worshipping (how, where, or what they may); that a believer must believe in being subject to Kings, Rulers, Presidents as well as to the Magistrates in obeying, honoring and sustaining the law; that a believer must be honest, true, chaste, benevolent and upright.

"For knowing this creed, I joined the mission wholeheartedly," said Gerald.

    Gerald received his missionary mission

"On July 08, 1995, I received the approval from Honorable Gordon B. Hinckley, the over all president of the Mormon Church, USA for missionary mission through the branch president in Manila to be assigned in Leyte and Samar, Philippines. On September 04, 1995, I entered to the Missionary Training Center in Manila. There, I was taught on how to communicate people effectively, how to response the people's inquisitions. I was also taught to become spiritually, emotionally and mentally fit and I was advised to read the book of Mormons from cover to cover. It took me 16 days training before I left for Tacloban, Leyte with other four companions to serve my two-year mission," Gerald said.

Tacloban is a seaport on NE Leyte, in Central Philippines. It is a prosperous City, peaceful and beautiful. The people are hospitable. The place was totally different from Gerald's home province. But it did not diminish his willingness to serve his mission. He studied the condition of the place, the life style of the people including their local language. He was prepared with weapons: the Holy Scripture and his Faith. He started his preaching career at Capoocan, Leyte.

    Gerald started his Preaching Career

"My first week in Leyte was really difficult. I'm not familiar of their language but I worked hard. I made friends with the people. And I succeeded. There were many people have joined the Mormon Church. I was happy to see hundred of townsfolks accepted the words of God. It's a successful endeavor. I proudly reported it to our Headquarters' office in Manila," he said proudly.

As recorded in his journal, there were about eleven areas where his courage and devotion to preach the Gospel have pondered.

"In Capoocan, Leyte I stayed two months. In Allen, Samar one month, Merida and Ormoc City three months, Catbalogan, Samar one and one half month, Baybay, Leyte two weeks, Calbayog City, one and one half month, Dagami, Leyte four months, Tanuan, Leyte one month, Burauen, Leyte four months, Macrohon and Maasin Leyte three months and in Hilongos, Hindang, Leyte one month of preaching. It was really difficult to handle the job. I had to preach inside bus, food houses, waiting shades, at the markets where most people gathered and as well house-to-house preaching," he said.

    Gerald's most unforgettable experiences

On the second year of his mission he was 19year old. He became the Zone leader. One of his duties: visiting newly converted brothers and sisters and lead the prayer meeting. At that time he met an accident that he couldn't forget.

He said, "It was late in the evening when suddenly six men armed with bolos and pointed knives surged from nowhere and surrounded us on the road where we were walking on. We spotted them drunk. They attacked us. We were not equipped with weapons to fight back. What we have in our hands was the Holy Scriptures. We prayed to God to save us. Miraculously, we were left by them unconscious lying down on the ground. Next morning our elder brothers found us unharmed. And I remembered the testimony of Prophet Joseph Smith said, 'No unhallowed hands can stop the work from progressing. Persecution may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calamities may defame but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly and independent, until the plan of God passes and shall be accomplished and the great Divinity shall see that the work is done.'

"There was a time I blamed myself too because I ignored the whisper of the Holy Ghost, directing me what to do. I was the zone leader at that time and there was a seminar and other activities to be attended by all of us - zone leaders. My companion and I have reported to our mission office to get cash supports for us zone leaders. My companion suggested that he was the one to keep those stuffs. He placed them in his bag and decided to leave them to the personnel in the office and then we proceeded to attend the seminar but inside me opposed his decision. I wanted to bring those stuffs with us though I did not insist it to him. After the seminar we went back to our mission office, took our stuffs and went home. When we got home my companion was shocked after he found out that two of the envelopes were lost.

"How often I was grateful too because I followed the spirit's instructions. Like what happened to one of our councilors for elders forum, who suffered from the severe infection of his wounded leg and eventually died. I was the ward bishop at that time. We, the members of bishop council visited brother Tabuso in his home. Brother Tabuso was lying in his bed, pale, weak and almost dying. It was a Sunday afternoon. We gave him our emotional supports to ease his pains. After our conversation, we decided to leave the house but suddenly I suggested that brother Tabuso should be given our priesthood blessing but neither of us brought the anointing oil, though we still gave him our priesthood blessing. The next morning we were informed that brother Tabuso died that night. I realized then he was blessed. He received the most important blessing in his life – the blessing of the priesthood. And I was grateful too, I listened the Spirit's whisper."

    Gerald received new blessings

During those periods of his preaching career Gerald learned many things such as, to retain faith, humility, charity, righteousness, prayers and love. He said, "All these virtues are factors to become Good Samaritan."

After finishing his two-year mission Gerald went back to his home province and there he became the ward councilor. In 1998 he married. He said, "This woman is a blessing from our Almighty God. We vowed to each other to be together 'til eternity. I promised to myself to become a responsible husband to my wife and a responsible father to my future kids."

When the former ward bishop had finished his term in November 2000, Gerald occupied the seat for that position. One of his major responsibilities was to settle disputes equally among its members. But Gerald gave up his position for good.

In 2001 Gerald decided to work abroad

"When I decided to work abroad I carefully thought about it for a hundred times and it is for my family, to support them for a better life in the future. I am also aware to the condition of our country, which is having a hard time. Jobs are hard to come by," he said.

In Saudi Arabia, Gerald and other Mormon members are having a weekly gathering at the US Embassy.

"It is important to open our ears, hearts and our minds to hear the call of the Spirit and with often communication with our Creator. We should be encouraged and continue restudying and rereading our Bible because every page of it lays the Spirit of God, to guide us to the rightpath, to inspire us to live in peace, hope and happiness and help to strengthening our faith on the Lord Jesus, our church and religion, wherever we may be," he said smiling.
